This holiday season, the weight of inflation and all the craziness of the world may be bringing your holiday spirit down . . . like that cranky Ebenezer Scrooge level! There is something that you can do to remedy that and it won’t cost you a dime but it will feed your soul!

This altruistic task, a random act of kindness, is something that you do for the good of others without a reward. Most people find that there are several benefits to performing these small gifts for others: they reduce stress, boost self-esteem which lead to better physical and mental health! That is a win for everyone especially during the cold and weary winter months.

Another awesome thing about random acts of kindness is that there is no age limit! If you are a busy mom with a toddler or two, get them involved! Maybe you have a couple of teenagers who need some outside time- they can hop on board the R.A.K. adventure as well!

Where does one start you ask? You don’t need lots of money or extravagant gifts . . . you just need a bit of time, a smile, and a little holiday spirit. Let’s start with a few simple ideas to help you get started.

  • Donate food items to a local food bank.
  • Let someone move ahead of you in line at the grocery store or check out line.
  • Give blood.
  • Donate books or toys that your kids don’t play with anymore.
  • Pick up litter in a local park.
  • Help your neighbor put up their holiday lights.

These small acts are easy to do and will surely help you get into the holiday spirit! Click below to get a list of 10 more Random Acts of Kindness that you (and your family) can do to spread some holiday cheer.
