I would have to say that getting outside is one way that I love to destress. I enjoy the time in the morning as I head outside to tend to the animals on our farm. The birds are chirping, the annoying guard geese are doing their jobs ruining the peacefulness for everyone, and the morning light is soft and calming. I think it is the perfect was to start the day.
There are many health benefits from spending just 10 minutes outside! First of all, the fresh air is so good for your brain. When you stroll outside, you are improving your brain function. The second reason to spend some time outside is that it improves your concentration. There are numerous studies that show this, but as a busy mom, I can really tell when my dogs, my toddler, or myself have not spent enough time outside- we are all over the place! Another reason that you should go outside is for the increased Vitamin D. Nearly everyone on the planet is low in Vitamin D which is an essential nutrient for your brain. Getting outside will get you some Vitamin D, although just don’t solely depend on the sun’s rays to get enough and supplement with a high quality supplement as needed. The fourth reason to get some outside time is stress reduction- which happens to be the very reason that I started off this post with! “Scientists have discovered physiological evidence that suggests spending time in nature reduces stress, such as observed lowered heart rates and less time spent thinking about problems and/or insecurities.” (Advanced Neurotherapy)

Hopefully this small post was enough to convince you to get some outside time!
