Twelve Days of Wellness: Day Six

Happy Day 6! Hope you are learning and enjoying this Twelve Days of Wellness and have tried something new in the lasts 5 days- even one thing will help your overall wellness. Today I am going to briefly talk about the importance of vitamins and minerals through eating whole foods!

Eating fruits and veggies is an important part of having a well balanced diet- even hard core carnivores need a cup of blueberries or some nutritious peppers along with their slab of meat! Fruits and veggies provide your body with vitamins such as A & C along with potassium, antioxidants, and fiber.

Now, when I talk about a serving of veggies or fruit . . . I am not suggesting that you head on over to your fridge and pour yourself a glass of OJ and call it a day. This is not your best choice as it basically means you’re eating several servings of oranges in one glass along with all the added sugars, flavors, and colors! Instead try adding sweet potatoes with your eggs or maybe dice up tomatoes and onions for an Italian or Mexican flair. Here is my version below:

Eggs with cheese, sweet potatoes, avocado, kale, onions, peppers, paprika, garlic, salt, pepper, and a dash of cumin!
