
Today give yourself the gift of less stress by stretching for 7 minutes. Does your body remind you of a gingerbread man- stiff and tired from running? Stretching is so awesome for your body and it is relatively easy to do.
First, let’s talk about why stretching is great for your body. Stretching decreases muscle stiffness which increases the range of motion in your joints. Stretching actually helps your body prepare for stress (the warm up to your exercise routine). The act of stretching improves your performance both in your daily life and if you play sports. That is why athletes spend time prior to games warming up and stretching! Stretching also improves your posture and helps your body stay in alignment. Another thing that stretching does is helps with muscle tension and helps keep your muscles relaxed. It also increases the blood supply to your muscles and joints which also aides in the transportation of the nutrients in your body. Stretching reduces both the risk of injury and the pain caused by sore muscles. The best part of stretching is that it increases the flexibility of muscles!
