From Teacher To Holistic Coach

Howdy Y’all and welcome to my page!

I am Andrea– a woman who loves my family, my farm, animals, lavender and hikes in nature.

I’m here because I am passionate about helping others learn healthier habits, become more self confident, and start on the path to becoming their best selves through goal setting (both short-term and long-term), graphic organizers, meaningful discussion which are all geared towards helping clients facilitate change in their everyday lives.

Whether you’re looking for someone to help you hold yourself accountable, get better sleep each night, help with stress management skills or are searching for someone with a basic knowledge of chronic conditions, I am here to walk this path alongside you. My teaching foundations are entrenched in health coaching, nutrition, and medicinal herbs. I apply my learning to help you . . . the WHOLE you in a natural way.

My Own Healing Journey

My calling has always been teaching others- from my early youth I know that I was destined to become a teacher. At first I thought I would be a junior high history teacher until I realized that I wasn’t quite ready for that age group plus that field was primarily dominated by football coaches! After completing my four years of eligibility on the college basketball court, Elementary Education with a Minor in History is what my Bachelor’s of Education diploma stated. I quickly was hired on in my hometown school district where my education and coaching career started.

Shortly after, I was able to finish my Master’s Degree with a focus in Creative Arts in Learning where I learned how to better serve my students through the arts. I LOVED it. I met and married my first husband and raised two young red heads. Life was good . . . until it wasn’t.

After so much happiness came the lowest of lows and numerous struggles. A hard divorce. A new role as a working, single mom. A chance meeting which led to a new journey. A new partner by my side. A custody trial that lasted two years. A move to a new job in a new state to a new house with a “new” husband who I had been apart from longer than we had been together. So much new in a such short amount of time!

In our new state, I dove back into my first love of elementary education where I taught 3rd and 4th grades. It was amazing. Then 2 years later I would take a leap of faith and pursue my life long dream of being a junior high school teacher and coach. Then the wild ride started!

During my tenure as coach, I taught 7 different classes while coaching 4 different sports all while trying to pass my CDL test so that I could drive a bus. To say my life was hectic was an understatement. Fast food and stress took its toll on me as my weight increased and my health decreased. My husband was worried about me and talked me into going Keto with him so that he could pass his PT test and so I could improve my overall health.

I was able to become healthier and happier, but realized that I was super tired. I thought that it was from the flu or something, but then I realized I had not had my monthly visitor. Which could only mean one thing . . . could I be pregnant? Turns out that a 44-year old is considered a “geriatric” pregnancy and we happily welcomed our little caboose . . . during a pandemic!

It was during this time that I became more focused on eating more whole foods and becoming more active. I felt awesome! I started homesteading and did a little gardening. I re-learned how to crochet and make homemade soap. I started realizing that food played a huge part in how a person feels. I began learning how to tend to assorted animals and plants. The pandemic changed my life and my outlook on everything!

Then we sold our farm, moved into a rental, purchased our current farm, and survived that first school year after COVID. We had so much snow that year! Remember the Snowpocalypse in Texas? My family survived it and so did our 11 farm raised chickens! At the conclusion of that year, we packed up our U-Haul and drove to Oklahoma and moved on to the newly renovated (by my husband) 14 acre farm where I quickly learned that I was very allergic to poison ivy! I taught 1 year of junior high in our new town and my sweet pandemic baby got 4 ear infections and the doctors would only prescribe antibiotics! I also had gained about 50 pounds and was severely out of shape from the stress of work and having a sick baby. I knew something had to change and so did my loyal, hardworking husband. We decided that I would stay at home and raise our kids.

It was then that the real learning began!

I started listening to podcasts about homesteading, nutrition, building community, raising animals, and gardening. I convinced my husband that we needed to go to Tennessee to the Self Reliance Festival where I met John and Amanda Willis, Nicole Sauce, Tim Cook, and Billy Bond. I got a speedy tour of the SOE Compound and all the animals in their habitats. We left inspired and amped to do more on our farm. We acquired pigs, added Bresse chicken to the barnyard flock, some geese, ducks, rabbits, dairy goats, and cattle. I was a stay at home mom turned farmer who was still able to teach! We then attended Nicole’s spring workshop where we learned about starting a niche business, making cheese, setting up solar power on the homestead, and other valuable skills that we were immediately able to put into action.

I also started learning more about medicinal herbs and how to make natural remedies at home. I learned how food affected my body as well as my baby. I dabbled in a couple rounds of 75 Hard. I started becoming farm fit and before I knew it, I had used nutrient dense food, exercise, and water to rid myself of 50 pounds. Then I stumbled across the Hill College Holistic Wellness Program and was officially hooked! I had done a lot of preliminary research, but I wanted to take my teaching skills down a different path. I want to create a community focused on helping people to find freedom from the chains of processed foods, low energy, and self-doubt so that they can free their hearts to do what is possible!

I am very dedicated to herbal and nutritional education. I love learning and participate in many workshops and courses over the course of a year.

Days on the Farm

My days are spent wrangling that baby who is now a toddler while advising my 2 older high school graduates as they navigate this wild world we live in.

You can find me homeschooling our awesome neighbor kids, tending to our farm animals, or gardening in my cottage garden or greenhouses.

My husband and I also love to explore Oklahoma by hiking, foraging for medicinal plants near our house, and spending time outside working on farm projects.
